Voices for Victory: Red Ribbons

June 19, 2022 @ 7:30 pm

Celebrate Juneteenth with Voices for Victory!
The Victory Theatre Center will present Volume 3 of Voices for Victory, a bi-monthly series that gives the stage to up-and-coming playwrights from the BIPOC communities.  Volume 3 will be the first volume of Voices for Victory since the theater reopened its doors to in- person audiences, and you can watch it either live at the theater or stream it via zoom!
This volume will represent a new beginning for the show. It will also celebrate the new beginning represented by the holiday Juneteenth as the series features a work by Marlow Wyatt,  one of the brightest emerging African-American playwrights today.
About the play:
Navigating between the harshness of the inner-city and a bucolic summer camp, Red Ribbons is a multi-ethnic, mixed-media arts drama that captures the healing bond of two strangers coping with the emotional trauma of a forgotten endemic. Red Ribbons deals with the complexity of love between human beings in a new and profound way. The story follows two people whose closest relationship gave them both their biggest blessing and their cruelest curse.
Cast: Calvin Sawyer, Geri-Nikole Love, Elle Vernée, Jenapher Zheng, Hannah Trujillo, Jermaine Alexander, Joy DeMichelle, Chantal Nchako, Yolanda T. Ross, Dale E. Turner
Written by: Marlow Wyatt. Directed by: Chuma Gault  Produced by: Rashim Cannad
