The Art of SCUMBURBIA: Sam Grinberg Exhibit at Gallery 839

Comics?? In a gallery?? Come see 100 pages of original black-and-white comic art from Sam Grinberg’s newest comic, Scumburbia: Mega Sized Mall Issue. Three years in the making, each page is hand penciled, inked, and lettered on paper. A young adult coming-of-age comic chronicling the relatable misadventures of middle and high schoolers trying to survive suburbia. Stories and characters interconnect over different chapters, creating an immersive, self-contained world.
Sam Grinberg is a cartoonist from New Jersey now based in Los Angeles. He is currently a character designer on The Simpsons while also working on various illustration and comic projects. He has worked with Amoeba Music, The Academy Museum, Adult Swim, Oni Press, Live Nation, and more. His newest comic, Scumburbia, is on sale now at comic shops across the country.
Gallery 839 is a nonprofit gallery featuring art by members of the Animation Guild, IATSE, Local 839. Artists on exhibit are tried-and-true in their fields of animation and visual art, offering a unique merging of the Union and fine art worlds.
