Library: The Queens of Animation – Author Visit
October 22, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Author Nathalia Holt will begin her national book tour at our library and discuss her newest book on the day of its release!
The Queens of Animation: The Untold Story of the Women Who Transformed the World of Disney and Made Cinematic History chronicles the challenging personal and professional lives of five of these women as they fought to find a place for themselves and their talents in an industry dominated by men. And she brings you up to date, chronichling the triumphs of women in contemporary animation.
What better place for Ms. Holt to start a tour for her new book than at Disney Studios’ hometown library – and in a city that is the animation capitol of the world? The women in Disney’s Paint and Ink Department have been justly celebrated for their role in the production of classic Disney animated features. Perhaps less well known are the important creative contributions that women who worked in the story department made to Disney fillms, where they developed character and story ideas, and created compelling and imaginative concept art.
October 22nd is the first day you can obtain a copy of The Queens of Animation & we will have books available for purchase & signing.
Publisher’s Weekly writes, “Holt’s thorough and enchanting account will be a must read for Disney enthusiasts and champions of women’s artistic contributions.”
