Fade In: Meet the Writers Guild Foundation

Are you working on a screenplay? Looking for ways to improve your craft and further your career? Meet the Writers Guild Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the history and craft of writing for the screen. The Shavelson-Webb Library is home to nearly 50,000 film and TV scripts and the Archive contains one-of-a-kind material like unproduced screenplays, correspondence, and development documents. The Foundation also hosts public events featuring film and TV writers and community outreach programs that create career pathways for emerging writers and underserved communities. In this program, panelists will share how the WGF can help in your writing process and once your script has been written. Learn how best to use the WGF’s unique resources to further your screenwriting goals. The panelists will highlight the best places for information about finding representation, writing groups, entering contests, and more.
Panelists will also bring treasures from the library and archive so attendees can see firsthand what a great script looks like on the page and the process it takes to get there. They will have examples of pitches, show bibles, and writers’ room documents in addition to old and new classics.
Burbank Public Library staff member Matt Legarreta will speak about what he’s learned while completing a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in screenwriting and how that fits into his career goals.
