Call for Storytellers: Burbank Public Library (Deadline Sept 14)

September 14, 2025

Call for Submissions: Pecha Kucha Storytelling Event
What We’re Looking For: The Burbank Public Library is seeking community members who have personal stories of resilience to share. Whether you’ve:
Survived a natural disaster or other emergency (Earthquake, Fire, Flood, Heat wave, Blizzard, Tornado…)
Supported others through a disaster (such as aiding in cleanup efforts, mutual aid distributions, assisting with recovery)

We want to hear your story.
Apply here – https://tinyurl.com/2u36etzf

You do not need to be a seasoned storyteller. This is a sharing opportunity. A chance to reflect on your life experiences, what you’ve learned, and connect to others who have gone through or are currently going through a difficult time. By sharing your story, you’ll give others the opportunity to walk in your shoes for a moment—offering access to resilience, courage, and the human spirit. You never know who your story might inspire!

If this is the first time you are presenting in the Pecha Kucha style, we highly recommend you view a few Pecha Kucha presentations to familiarize yourself with this unique presentation format. (https://tinyurl.com/PKexamples)

What is Pecha Kucha??
Pecha Kucha (pronounced “peh-CHAH-koo-chah”) means the “sound of conversation” in Japanese. It is a fast-paced, impactful storytelling format in which each presenter has 6 minutes and 40 seconds to tell their story. The format uses 20 slides, with each slide shown for 20 seconds. The visual slides are included to enhance and support your narrative, creating a more immersive experience for the audience. The Pecha Kucha format makes storytelling accessible, engaging, and memorable for an audience while challenging presenters to be concise, focused and imaginative. You can use PowerPoint, Canva, Google Slides or Keynote to create presentation.

Submission Deadline Sunday, Sept. 14, 2025. You do not need to be a Burbank resident to submit. All are welcome!
When you submit this form, it will not automatically collect your details like name and email address unless you provide it yourself.
