DESCRIPTION:As part of the California Festival\, the Burbank Philharmonic\, under the baton of Music Director Michael Stanley\, will open its 2023 season with Toast of the Town Overture by sought-after young composer Quinn Mason. \nTHE PROGRAM\n· Toast of the Town – Overture by Quinn Mason\n* This performance is part of the California Festival\, a two-week\, statewide festival of new music\n· Selected Arias —– Talin Nalbandian\, Mezzo-Soprano soloist\, 2019 Hennings-Fischer Grand Prize winner\n· Violin Concerto in D Minor\, Op. 47 by Jean Sibelius —– Wenlan Jackson Violin soloist\, 2022 Hennings-Fischer Grand Prize winner \nNo admission charge or tickets. \nThe Burbank Philharmonic’s 2023 Season Opening Gala Concert will feature a wide variety of music performed by some of Southern California’s top musical talent.  Celebrating the diversity of our Los Angeles region\, the orchestra will open with Toast of the Town – Overture by sought-after young composer Quinn Mason. Toast of the Town is a fun and festive overture to a nonexistent operetta written in the style of composers such as Offenbach and Gilbert and Sullivan.  Its performance is part of the California Festival\, a two-week\, statewide festival of new music from around the world\, showcasing today’s most compelling and forward-looking voices in performances of works written within the past five years. \nThe orchestra will be pleased to welcome composer Quinn Mason as its special guest at the performance.  Mr. Mason (b. 1996) is a composer and conductor based in Dallas\, Texas. He recently finished a successful tenure as Artist in Residence of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra for the 2022-2023 season. He also served as the Detroit Symphony Orchestra’s Classical Roots composer in residence in 2022 (the youngest composer appointed to that role) and as classical radio station KMFA’s inaugural composer in residence.  His music has been played by renowned orchestras such as the San Francisco Symphony\, Minnesota Orchestra\, Detroit Symphony\, Dallas Symphony\, New World Symphony. Utah Symphony\, and more. A multiple prize winner in composition\, he is also the recipient of awards from the American Composers Forum\, Philadelphia Youth Orchestra\, Heartland Symphony Orchestra\, ASCAP\, and Voices of Change\, among others.

DESCRIPTION:The Burbank Philharmonic Orchestra is back! Our next concert will take place Saturday\, April 2nd\, and will feature “Symphonic Favorites” from four major composers. In addition\, we’ll be spotlighting two of the winners from our recent Hennings-Fischer Young Artists Competitions: Violinist Charlotte Marckx playing the Brahms Violin Concerto\, Op. 77\, and soprano Catherine Psarkis performing an aria by Richard Strauss. Both musicians are stunningly talented and will amaze everyone with their virtuosity.\n\n\nThe performance is scheduled to begin at 7:30 pm in Lanterman Auditorium in La Canada Flintridge. As always\, this concert is free to the public. Parking is also free\, but be sure to arrive in plenty of time to get a good spot. See our flyer for the address of the auditorium.\n\n\nCOVID protocols will be enforced. At this time\, masks are optional but highly recommended for those who can show they are fully vaccinated or who test negative. Requirements may change by the concert date\, so check beforehand.
