DESCRIPTION:Call for Submissions: Pecha Kucha Storytelling Event\nWhat We’re Looking For: The Burbank Public Library is seeking community members who have personal stories of resilience to share. Whether you’ve:\nSurvived a natural disaster or other emergency (Earthquake\, Fire\, Flood\, Heat wave\, Blizzard\, Tornado…)\nSupported others through a disaster (such as aiding in cleanup efforts\, mutual aid distributions\, assisting with recovery)  \nWe want to hear your story.\nApply here – https://tinyurl.com/2u36etzf \nYou do not need to be a seasoned storyteller. This is a sharing opportunity. A chance to reflect on your life experiences\, what you’ve learned\, and connect to others who have gone through or are currently going through a difficult time.  By sharing your story\, you’ll give others the opportunity to walk in your shoes for a moment—offering access to resilience\, courage\, and the human spirit. (https://tinyurl.com/PKexamples) \nTheme: Courage in Action: Stories of Survival\, Strength\, and Community\nDate: Saturday\, October 11\, 2025\nWhen: 6pm-7:30pm\nLocation: Buena Vista Branch  \nWhat is Pecha Kucha??\nPecha Kucha (pronounced “peh-CHAH-koo-chah”) means the “sound of conversation” in Japanese. It is a fast-paced\, impactful storytelling format in which each presenter has 6 minutes and 40 seconds to tell their story. The format uses 20 slides\, with each slide shown for 20 seconds. The visual slides are included to enhance and support your narrative\, creating a more immersive experience for the audience. The Pecha Kucha format makes storytelling accessible\, engaging\, and memorable for an audience while challenging presenters to be concise\, focused and imaginative. You can use PowerPoint\, Canva\, Google Slides or Keynote to create presentation.   \nSubmission Deadline Sunday\, Sept. 14\, 2025. You do not need to be a Burbank resident to submit. DESCRIPTION:Preview the exciting events and film highlights coming to the 2025 Burbank International Film Festival.\nTuesday\, August 26  7pm – Buena Vista Library Branch\nRSVP Here – https://burbank.libnet.info/event/14147529 \nAll preview event attendees will receive a free ticket to either one of the festival’s feature film screenings or one of the short film screening blocks. \nThe President of the Burbank International Film Festival\, Anna McNiven\, will be joined by BIFF Board Member / Burbank Cultural Arts Commissioner Eric Conner to highlight how the festival curates its lineup\, supports filmmakers in making industry connections and offers volunteer/internship opportunities. \nMultiple filmmakers from 2025’s festival will be featured at the preview event to discuss their projects\, including: \nWriter/Producer Mark Dylan Brown\, Producer Cynthia Gravenese & Director Mitch Yapko – “Watching Walter”\nA short biopic set in both 1995 Philadelphia and World War II Nazi-occupied Poland.
