SUMMARY:BLCAC September Exhibit - The California Japanese Ceramic Arts Guild
DESCRIPTION:The Opening Reception is on Friday\, September 4\, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm\, and will include music and light refreshments. \nIn 2026\, the California Japanese Ceramic Arts Guild celebrates its fiftieth anniversary. Founded in 1976 by Joanne and Yukio Onaga\, the Guild brings together artists from across Southern California who engage with the traditions of Japanese ceramics. Over the last half-century\, the Guild’s members have curated an annual show as part of the Nisei Week Festival in Los Angeles’ Little Tokyo. \nIn “Conveying in Clay\,” we have the opportunity to see the distinct bodies of work of the ten ceramic artists who currently form the Guild. From functional pieces to sculptural scenes of the lives of the Japanese diaspora\, the artists’ practice continues to connect tradition and contemporary artistry. Today\, the Guild remains committed to sharing the spirit and beauty of ceramics with the broader community. \nFor more information on the California Japanese Ceramic Arts Guild\nhttps://www.cjcagceramics.com/

SUMMARY:Catch Me if You Can: The Musical
DESCRIPTION:CATCH ME IF YOU CAN: THE MUSICAL\nMUSIC BY MARC SHAIMAN\nBOOK BY TERRENCE McNALLY\nLYRICS BY SCOTT WITTMAN AND MARC SHAIMAN \nBASED ON THE DREAMWORKS MOTION PICTURE\nDIRECTED BY MICHAEL DONOVAN \nSEPTEMBER 17 – OCTOBER 18 \nThe Colony Theatre (Heather Provost\, Producing Artistic Director) has announced a new production of Catch Me If You Can\, the musical\, in 2026. With music by Marc Shaiman\, book by Terrence McNally\, and lyrics by Scott Wittman and Marc Shaiman\, ten-time Artios Award-winner Michael Donovan\, director of The Colony’s smash hit The Wedding Singer this past summer\, is set to direct. The original Broadway production of Catch Me If You Can ran in 2011\, receiving four Tony Award nominations including Best Musical and winning one (Best Leading Actor in a Musical for Norbert Leo Butz). \nBased on the hit DreamWorks motion picture and the incredible true story that inspired it\, Catch Me If You Can is a high-flying\, splashy Broadway musical that tells the story of Frank W. Abagnale\, Jr.\, who runs away from home in search of the glamorous life. With nothing more than his boyish charm\, a big imagination and millions of dollars in forged checks\, Frank successfully poses as a pilot\, a doctor\, and a lawyer – living the high life and winning the girl of his dreams. But when Frank’s lies catch the attention of FBI agent Carl Hanratty\, Carl chases Frank to the end … and finds something he never expected.
