SUMMARY:Stephen Kearin in Memoiry Lane at the Garry Marshall Theatre - 2nd Show Added
DESCRIPTION:Known in Los Angeles for his hilarity with Impro Theatre\, his acclaimed stage performances around the country\, and globally for his work in The Mandalorian\, DreamWorks Animation\, and Sergeant Geller on Amazon Prime’s Wayne\, Stephen Kearin is unboxing a storied life in showbizness and the business of real life. \nAfter sold out shows in San Francisco\, Stephen Kearin returns to the GMT to do what he does best: give audiences a night to remember. One of Garry Marshall’s favorite performers to grace the former Falcon Theatre stage\, Kearin’s onstage personas would have Garry laughing out loud from his signature seat\, G101 – high praise from the comedy genius. \nIt is no surprise that Kearin’s riotous and loveable characters in Garry Marshall Theatre & Impro Theatre’s scrumptious outdoor tea event of the season\, Jane Austen Unscripted: Tea At Pemberley\, had audiences combusting with laughter. \nWith his popular online Substack of the same name\, Memoiry Lane becomes an intimate night of Kearin unboxing his very unique history live on stage. He is unlocking the vault and sharing industry tales\, and opening up about a family life with a tough Jersey mom and a war-torn country father\, and how an Irish-American family left the mean streets of Van Nuys and landed in the suburbs of Mission Viejo. \nAmerican Theatre writer Robert Avila hit the nail on the head\, “Kearin\, alone onstage with a microphone\, is riveting from the first moment to the last.” \nIt’s a not-to-be-missed night you will certainly remember. It’s memory making indeed. \nFriday\, February 28\, at the Garry Marshall Theatre it’s time to take a stroll with acclaimed actor Stephen Kearin down his “Memoiry Lane.”

SUMMARY:Ruffly Drawn Fundraiser - Volunteers of the Burbank Animal Shelter
DESCRIPTION:Coming Soon: The 2025 Ruff-ly Drawn Fundraiser\nHave you ever thought there’s not enough art in your life? Not enough adventure? Not enough art that *is* an adventure? Well\, our Ruff-ly Drawn fundraiser solves that problem for you! All you’ll need to do is submit a good clear photo of your pet (along with a donation) and you will receive a custom made\, hand created piece of art based on that photo. \nWhere’s the *adventure* in that\, you ask? Well\, the art may be created by a trained and skilled artist\, or it may be created by someone who stopped any formal art training in grade school. You won’t know which it is until you receive it. ???? \nNo matter the level of training your artist has\, they are creating a piece of art just for you \, based on your furry loved ones face- and that is always something special. \nThis is a great way to add a little art and adventure in your life while also supporting the animals at the Burbank Animal Shelter! We look forward to seeing your submissions\, and the results of the art! \nSubmissions will be accepted from March 1-8\, 2025. Art will be delivered before the end of the month on a rolling basis as the artworks are completed. Full details and the link will be shared at 9am March 1st. Watch your inbox!!!

SUMMARY:Peaches and Cream | Michael Dee | Sculpture & Photography
DESCRIPTION:Woodbury University Professor and 5D Spectrum in-house Photographer Michael Dee will showcase his work at Woodbury University’s Nan Rae Gallery: 7500 N Glenoaks Blvd\, Burbank March 7-28th. \nPeaches & Cream\, a solo exhibition featuring 16 large-scale digital photographs and 3 cast metal sculptures\, will open on March 7\, 6-9pm\, at the Nan Rae Gallery. This exhibition expands on Dee’s complex visual vernacular that includes an aesthetic derived from an inherent curiosity and a process-based approach to art making; Dee is equal part technical wizard and art impresario\, his images originally derived from the picturesque natural world\, yet reconstituted in the camera to reflect a deep and abiding commitment to the ever-shifting natural landscape seemingly under siege by the imminent danger of climate change and global warming. \n\nDee’s process is both investigative and strangely mythic — his approach more like a visual anthropologist than a straight-up photographer. The work also demonstrates a distinctly 19th century sensibility while also embracing a neo-conceptual aesthetic; one might even go so far as to describe Dee as a combination of Auguste Renoir and Andy Warhol. The attention to detail in the work is startlingly alive as each of the 16 large-scale photographs of hummingbirds appears hyper-realistic and very nearly alien. These are not literal documents of the natural world so much as they are a living tableau of a disappearing world. Dee creates a strangely idyllic space within the gallery where healing and reflection can occur amid the turbulence and painful realities of daily living. His sculptures of the snow-owl and penguin stand as immovable witnesses to both the passage of time and our own transitory nature as the world around us vanishes daily. \nOpening: March 7\, 6-9pm \nGallery Hours: Thursday – Sunday 12-5pm March 8th – 28th \nLocation: Woodbury University’s Nan Rae Gallery: 7500 N Glenoaks Blvd\, Burbank \nRSVP HERE

SUMMARY:Hennings-Fischer Young Arts Competition at the Salit Conservatory
DESCRIPTION:In 2001\, the Burbank Phil partnered with the Hennings-Fischer Foundation to launch its first annual “Young Artist Competition.” The competition drew competitors from all over the nation starting in its first year and has continued to gain momentum ever since its inception\, with dozens of applicants vying each year for coveted finalist positions. Winners in the vocalist and instrumental category each year are awarded honorariums and later perform as guest artists with the orchestra. \nBoth the Hennings-Fischer Foundation and the “Young Artist Competition” honor the legacy of violinist\, conductor and teacher Noumi Fischer (1907-1995) and his wife\, fellow violinist and teacher Audrey Hennings Fischer (1919-2000). Their devoted musical careers and modest lifestyle built an endowment through which grants are made to organizations that support individual music students of high promise. The foundation perpetuates the goals to which Mr. and Mrs. Fischer dedicated their lives: the community of musical tradition and excellence. \nMr. Fischer began playing the violin at age 8\, studied in Chicago and New York\, and eventually settled in Los Angeles in 1932\, where he became concertmaster of the Warner Brothers recording orchestra. He was also one of the foremost violin teachers of his time whose students came to him from all over the world. He was determined to impart his knowledge and skill to as many musicians as possible and he succeeded in making his students stretch beyond their reach. Mrs. Fischer\, a Juilliard graduate\, studied piano and violin and performed with numerous ensembles in Southern California as well as teaching public school music.
