Silvana Casanave-Macchiavello
Artisan
Can you tell us a little bit about what you do?
I make hand-painted glass.
How did you first become interested in art?
I was born interested in art. Art is everywhere!
How does art enrich a community, and what are some ways people can engage with art in Burbank?
Art is in many forms, and is connected to the community because art defines physical space, reflects community values, can start a conversation, bring people together, can create a sense of belonging, and improve social well-being, as well as create economic development. People can engage more with art by going to art events and supporting local artisans. Art fairs can be a good place to not only engage with art, but also to be able to meet different artists and experience art in different forms and venues.
If you could share with our community one thing about art, what would it be?
The expression of art can come in many, many ways and emotions. Art is therapy, art is healing, art is fun, art is messy—art is your own voice and your imagination.
