Kurt Patino
President & Festival Director of Burbank International Film Festival

Can you tell us a little bit about what you do?
As President of the Burbank International Film Festival (BIFF), I oversee the vision and direction of the event, ensuring that we bring together a dynamic mix of films, talent, and experiences that reflect the spirit of our community. My role is to make sure every aspect of the festival resonates with our audience and celebrates the art of storytelling.

As a talent manager and film producer, I have the privilege of guiding creative visions from concept to reality, helping artists navigate the industry while ensuring their unique voices are heard. It’s about developing impactful stories and nurturing talent so they can reach their full potential.

How did you first become interested in producing/managing/your work with BIFF?
My passion for storytelling and community engagement naturally led me to the world of film festivals. I was drawn to BIFF because it’s a platform where diverse voices and stories can shine. The chance to merge my love for film with my commitment to Burbank was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up.

How does art enrich a community, and what are some ways people can engage with art in Burbank?
Art has the power to bring people together, spark dialogue, and inspire change. In Burbank, people can engage with art by attending local exhibitions, participating in community art projects, or even supporting independent filmmakers through our festival. The beauty of art is that it offers something for everyone.

If you could share with our community one thing about art, what would it be?
Art is more than just a form of expression; it’s a universal language that connects us all. I would encourage everyone to explore and support the arts—it’s through this engagement that we can build a more vibrant and inclusive community.
