Krikor Tchay
Artist
Can you tell us a little about what you do?
I am an abstract painter and am influenced by people and everyday life. I get my inspiration from observing human behavior, whether it’s functional or dysfunctional. I will be exhibiting some of my pieces at the Huntington Beach Art Exhibit taking place later this month.
How did you first become interested in art?
I have been interested in art from a very young age. I would constantly draw and paint for hours. It’s been an ongoing process most of my life.
How does art enrich a community, and what are some ways people can engage with art in Burbank?
Art enriches the community because it’s an indirect/direct reflection of what’s happening, not only in Burbank, but in the world around us. Art touches people’s souls one way or another. All art (bad or great) makes a statement without opinion or apology.
If you could share with our community one thing about art, what would it be?
The one thing about Art is that it’s unapologetic in its message. It’s also open to the viewer’s interpretation without judgment. It’s personal and allows each individual to have their own mental dance with the piece.
