Erin La Rosa
Author

Can you tell us a little bit about what you do?
I’m a novelist, and my sixth book comes out this November. I write contemporary adult romance books, and some of them have a bit of magical realism as well. In a broader sense, I write books for women looking for joy, an escape, and some humor.

How did you first become interested in art?
I always loved books, and remember having diaries that I wrote in from a young age. But I never considered the idea of being an author until a high school teacher told me that I should consider writing for a career. Once the words were said, a whole new idea of what my life could be opened up. It took me a while to get to the point of being brave enough to try and get a book published, but I’m grateful to be in this place in my career.

How does art enrich a community, and what are some ways people can engage with art in Burbank?
I’m a big believer in the power of community, and building art experiences into where you live. That’s a huge part of why I co-founded the Burbank Book Festival. Our 2025 festival will be held on November 8th at the Buena Vista Library Branch from 10 am to 4 pm, and there will be 80 authors in attendance. This is a free event for the community and authors, specifically designed to engage our book-loving community.

If you could share with our community one thing about art and/or your creative process, what would it be?
You might regret reading this interview, but you’ll never regret taking the time to observe the art that’s all around you. 😉
