Coco Maya
Fine Art Painter

Can you tell us a little bit about what you do?
I’m a painter and visual artist. I love to play with colors in an abstract way. I mainly use acrylic painting and mixed media.

How did you first become interested in art?
At first I quickly found out how much art was healing and joyful. Then, Picasso and Miró were great sources of inspiration, but each master painter can hypnotize me through their creations.

How does art enrich a community, and what are some ways people can engage with art in Burbank?
Did you know that just looking at art can give you a hit of dopamine, that happy chemical in your brain that you get when you fall in love? More art will create more happiness, more connections, and more fun. We all need color and creativity.

If you could share with our community one thing about art, what would it be?
The power of art in any healing process is often underestimated. The joy that art can bring is especially impactful if one is injured physically or mentally and a big help for one’s recovery. Also, art creates a balance in one’s life. People don’t realize how much they need creativity and how much it will change their life.
