Aurelia Thompson
Artist

Can you tell us a little bit about what you do? My passions for motherhood, nursing, and art define who I am and bring me a sense of fulfillment. Creating art allows me to balance my world and recharge my soul, as I paint portraits, flowers, landscapes, and still-life pieces in vivid colors. I find inspiration in my faith and Polish heritage, as well as in the beauty of nature. By infusing my paintings with these elements, I hope to bring joy and inspiration to those who admire them. Although I primarily use oil as my preferred medium, I occasionally experiment with acrylics and watercolors to explore new techniques and styles.

I have had numerous successful exhibitions throughout the Inland Empire and Orange County, including at prominent venues such as the Arts Colony in Corona, Riverside Art Museum, Anaheim Art Association, and the Huntington Beach Art Center. Additionally, I am proud to have showcased my artwork at the esteemed Laguna Art-A-Fair for three consecutive years. While I have been fortunate to exhibit my work in various locations, I am eager to expand my reach and showcase my artistry in the Burbank area. I am excited to soon exhibit my artwork at Lusanet Collective and cannot wait for this new opportunity.

How did you first become interested in art? I have always had a deep passion for art, which began at an early age and continued to grow and develop throughout my adult life. Growing up in Southern Poland, just outside of Krakow, I was exposed to the rich culture, music, and artistic traditions of the region from a very young age. These experiences instilled in me a love for and appreciation of all forms of art, and I quickly discovered that creating my own art was a natural extension of myself. In fact, I often refer to the art I produce as “Art from my Soul.” This is because my creations flow from the deepest parts of myself without previous formal training. I believe that my art reflects who I am, and that it has the power to connect with others on a deep and meaningful level.

How does art enrich a community, and what are some ways people can engage with art in Burbank? Art can enrich a community in many ways. It can help bring people together, foster creativity and imagination, inspire and provoke critical thinking, and connect people to their cultural identities. Burbank offers numerous opportunities for public to engage with art, including visiting many art galleries and museums in the area, participating in art classes and workshops offered by the City of Burbank, attending live performances at local theaters, taking public art walking tours, and joining local art organizations, such as the Burbank Art Association.

If you could share with our community one thing about art, what would it be?
Art is not only a form of expression but also a medium to connect people and communities across time and space. It is a universal language that has the power to convey emotions and thoughts that transcend language, culture, and age.
